eSATA Hardware RAID Arrays

Built in Silicon Image RISC storage processor takes the load off of the computer CPU!

SiI-4726 based SATA 5 Drive Arrays are the affordable, reliable and scalable solution for audio/video editing, small office/home office and small to medium-sized storage!   The hi-performance hard drives and the built in Silicon Image hardware RAID processor are capable of delivering over 230 megabytes per second of input/output throughput!

For demanding performance applications such as video or audio editing, digital imaging, sophisticated data manipulation, or the fastest gaming platform in town, configure the array as a striped disk array (RAID 0), simultaneously accessing multiple drives for blazing fast disk performance.

Or, configure it as a mirrored array (RAID 1) or striped and mirrored array (RAID 10).  Supports auto rebuild, auto fail over, hot swap and hot spare without the use of CPU resources.  At a speedy 100 gigabytes per hour, the array can quickly re-establish a mirrored drive set after a failed drive has been replaced.

RAID Level Modes:

  • FAST or Data Striping (RAID 0) — allows the enclosure to performance stripe the drives, to provide maximum throughput to the direct attached PC/Server.
  • SAFE or Data Mirroring (RAID 1) — allows the enclosure to automatically copy primary hard drive without any CPU loading*. The enclosure provides automatic rebuild on device replacement and auto-failover, to eliminate any workflow interruptions.
  • SAFE & FAST or Data Striping and Mirroring (RAID 10) — allows the enclosure to improve data availability beyond RAID 5 or RAID 6 with large SATA drives, due to rebuild vulnerability.
  • SAFE & BIG Mode or Drive Spanning and Mirroring — allows for large capacity with protection.
  • BIG or Drive Spanning — allows the enclosure to make any two drives (same or different sizes) appear as one large drive to the host, for extra capacity (also called concatenation).
  • JBOD or Port Multiplier — this allows the direct attached PC/Server to see the drives in the enclosure as just a bunch of drives.

Data Protection Features:

  • Automatic-Mirroring (RAID 1 mode)*
  • Self-healing storage (Auto-Rebuild/Hot Spare)*
  • No down time (Automatic-Failover)*
  • Less than 1% Host CPU loading during rebuild*
  • Fast rebuild of 100GB/hour
  • Easy configuration using GUI applet
  • Drive Performance Aggregation (RAID 0)

*SAFE or RAID 1 modes require that the Silicon Image daemon/agent application to be running for automatic rebuild policy operation.

Drive Tray Features:
Each drive tray has it's own whisper quiet cooling fan keeping those high performance SATA drives running long and cool! Plus the built in LCD readout on the front of each tray allows you to monitor the drive temperature as well as the fan RPM!
